A Brief History of Scotts

We started our business in a small Automotive shop in Glendale California doing repairs and setting up suspension for local racers. Our popularity and performance gained momentum in a hurry and we had to move to our current location in Montrose in September of 1974. Starting with 2 employees, we then expanded our line up to include accessories for all facets of off-road motorcycling. George Capodieci and Steve Zollinger joined the company in it's early stages and are still with it, 25 years later. George was interested in the suspension and machine shop end of the business and was soon to take over that division. Steve fit right into the management position for the retail store and soon-to-be dealer network. We all were very active in off-road racing. Scott, the owner, became an active Baja 1000 racer between the years of 1987 - 1995. Winning the Baja 1000 in 1992, Ensenada to La Paz, on S.C.O.R.E.'s 25th Anniversary was one of the highlights in his racing career. Many of the products we manufacture now were developed during those racing years. We have now grown into an international market and coupled with our website, we supply products all over the world. We are all still very involved with motorcycle riding and the issues surrounding our sport. We hope we can serve you some time in our near future.

Meet the Staff of Scotts

Steve Zollinger Steve Zollinger: Steve has been with Scotts for over 20 years now and has been around motorcycle racing since he was just a young pup. In fact, he used to be pretty fast himself... rode those Swedish motorcycles and won a lot of races in the desert and in Baja. He's forgotten more about motorcycles than most of us will ever know, so if you ever have any questions about product reliability or what the hottest setup is for your scoot, give him or one of his highly trained salesmen a call, they'll be happy to help you out.

Jennifer Hathaway Jennifer Hathaway: This is Jennifer... she's in charge of shipping. When you order products from this catalog and they show up at your house amazingly fast, she's the reason why. Jen tracks and opens all the UPS packages also, so make sure to include a nice note when you ship us your forks or shock. She'll like that! She is the best shipper this side of the Mississippi. Maybe on both sides.

Jake Hulsebus Jake Hulsebus: Jake is a multi talented employee. He not only answers phones, takes orders, and does a multitude of odd jobs. He also is the ace at wheel lacing and truing. His background is surrounded with motorcycles from a very early age and alot of mountain biking. He graduated with a degree from Pepperdine University and has become a loyal asset to the growth of Scotts Performance.

Eric Vargo Eric Vargo:

Louie Louie: While not technically an employee of Scotts, Louie has been our UPS delivery person for almost as long as we've been in business. He knows how important it is for your parts to be delivered on time. Fortunately for us, Louie truly cares about the quality of his service... unfortunately for us, Louie has been with UPS for so long that his annual allotted vacation time now exceeds the amount of time he works. If we're lucky, he'll grace our doorway a total of about three months out of the year.

... and last, but certainly not least...

Scott Scott: Scott, the owner, founded Scotts Performance in 1974. He started out by himself, as a small repair shop and suspension mod fabricator and soon gained a following. Scott became an active Baja racer between the years of 1985 - 1995. Winning the Point to Point Baja 1000 in 1992, Ensenada to La Paz, on S.C.O.R.E.'s 25th Anniversary, which was one of the highlights in his racing career. Many of the products Scotts manufactures were developed during those racing years. He also competed in the National Enduro Circuit and withstood the grueling early years of the Tecate 500 Enduros, still talked about to this day. Still very active riding, Scott spends time at the races and riding with the many friends he has made over the years in the industry. He is also actively involved in bicycling, both mountain bikes and road bikes. He has been married for 30 years and has 3 children. If you run into him, ask him why he always wears a hat!
